ティルタガンガ Tirta Gangga

　ティルタガンガは、カランアッサム県にあります。1948年に建てられた、西洋と中国、そして伝統的なバリ建築がミックスされたユニークな宮殿です。1963年にアグン山が噴火して、ここも被害に合いましたが、今では少しづつ修復されて見られるようになっています。池には今でも美しい水がたたえられています。南側には、水源のあるタワーと池があり。、中央には人が泳げるプールがあります。北側には静養のための宮殿があり、とても幻想的でキレイな公園のような感じです。またレストランもあるので、絶景を眺めながら素敵な時間を過ごすことができます。

　ティルタエンプルは聖なる水の湧く寺院として、バリヒンドゥー教を信仰するバリ人にとっては重要な場所。10世紀～14世紀に栄えたワルマデワ王朝の遺跡。タンパクシリンに位置し、この寺の内部には尊い聖水が湧き出る泉があり、この水には病を治癒する力があると信じられており、コケに覆われた石の壁から湧き出す水を求めてたくさんの人々がこの寺院を訪れます。聖なる水は今でも泉の底から砂や小石を巻き上げながら湧き出している。 この聖なる水を引いた沐浴場が隣にあり、心身を清める為に使われたり、祈りを捧げる時に必要な聖水を汲んだりするとても重要な場所。伝説によるとインドラ神が聖水を得るために地面を突き刺して創造したという伝説があります。 水の下にある緑色の藻が、透き通った聖水にエメラルド色を与え、そして外のココナッツの木の緑の葉が水面に映り、とても神秘的に感じられます。また、この寺院には、ヒンドゥー教の三大最高神のひとりであり、「雨を司るインドラ神」より位が上の「水を司る神　ヴィシュヌ神」が祀られています。

この他、「オラダン」と呼ばれる個々の寺院の創立祭もあり、バリには島中の至るところに寺院があるため、毎日どこかしらでお祭りをやっていると言っても過言ではありません。特に満月、新月にはオラダンが集中し、正装をし、お供え物を頭に乗せて寺院へ向かう人々を目にすることができます。

　バリ島の市場は朝だけではなく、夜にも市場は開かれます。中でもパサールクレネンはデンパサール最大の夜市です。地元の人々が買い物を楽しむ、とにかく安くて賑やかなパサールです。

　毎日夕方から夜１１時頃まで開いており、中に入ると洋服、靴、ＣＤなどの店がズラリと並び、奥が見えない程の広さです。価格がついていない店が多いですが、商売上手なおばちゃんとの交渉も楽しみの一つです。

　演奏は、終始、昔バリ島で使用されていたと言われている、カウィ語によって行われます。言葉よりも、天上の音と呼ばれるガムラン楽器が織り成す音たち、影絵が生み出すオーラ、訴えかけるメッセージを、それぞれのハートで感じていただけたらと思います。

バトゥアン村民家 batuan villager

　買い物で街を歩いているだけでも太陽は照りつけてきます。長時間の日焼けで水分も補給せずにいると熱射病になる場合もあります。街に出るときでも日焼け止めを塗り、帽子もかぶり、買い物の途中でカフェに寄るかミネラルウオーターを買い求め水分補給を行ってください。

　これは西暦の３月頃になり、バリ島では雨季から乾期への変わり目にあたる頃です。ニュピを含む新年の祭りは、１年間にたまった汚れをはらい、清い状態で新年を迎えることを主旨とし、ニュピの２日前には寺院の御神体などを海辺に運んで清める儀礼が行われます。
　ニュピの前日には、村々の十字路などに悪霊へのお供えが置かれ、夜には人々がたいまつをかざし楽器を打ち鳴らしながら村内を派手に練り歩き、お供えを食べた悪霊にもう人々に危害を加ないで立ち去るよう促す儀礼が行われます。
　そしてニュピの当日は一転して静けさが支配する日で、陽が昇ってから･･･翌朝また陽が昇るまでの間、火を使う事が許されず、外出や仕事をするのも禁じられ、新年を迎えて静かに瞑想をする日とされています。

　田舎ではヤシの皮とか木切れとかいっぱいあるから火を焚いて、かまどで料理をします。私がバリ島に行ったときは直火のバーベキューでしたが・・・
　料理は時間が経っても悪くならないように、油で揚げたり、香辛料をいっぱい入れた料理が多いですね。もともとバリの普通の家の料理はそんな感じです。
　田舎の方では、だいたい朝は子供たちは、甘いお菓子を食べます。もち米にココナツと砂糖がかかったモノとか、バナナを揚げたものとか。 日本みたいに給食はなく、渡されたお小遣いで自分で屋台みたいなところで食事を買って食べるか、学校が終ってから、家に帰ってきて食事を食べるようです。
