小さなお供え物 Small offering

　今回はバリ島でよく見かけるお供え物について紹介します。
　色とりどりの花などが盛られたヤシの葉で作った四角い皿が店の前、海岸、交差点、車の中など、バリ島を旅すると必ず目にするのが、チャナンとよばれるお供え物です。バリ島では各家、寺院など毎日大量のお供え物が作られており、主婦にとって最も時間のかかる仕事のようです。地面にあるチャナンは「悪霊」の為、地面より上にあるチャナンは「神様」の為のようです。
　チャナンは、毎日、聖水をふりかけて線香と一緒に供えられますが、掃除の際には捨てられます。その間、お供え物はほったらかしで、犬やニワトリが米粒を食べようとお構いなしです。ですので、散歩中にうっかり踏んづけても罰があたらないそうなのでご安心ください。しかしたまにお香や煙草に火がついてるのがあるので、やけどしないように気をつけましょう。
