クタビーチ Kutabeach

　クタビーチはバリ島で一番にぎやかなビーチです。ビーチは美しい白砂で、遠浅の海が広がっています。年中、波が高いので遊泳には向きませんが、サーフィンやボディボードにはぴったり。早朝から日が暮れるまでサーファー、ボディボーダーが楽しんでいます。またクタビーチはサンセットが非常にきれいな場所としても有名です。夕方になると観光客もバリの人々も多くの人々が海に沈む夕陽を見にクタビーチへ集まってきます。夜は地元バリのカップルのデートスポット。カップルが夜のビーチに座り込んで語り合っている光景が見られます。

ゴア・ガジャ GoaGajah

　1923年に発掘された寺院遺跡で『ゴア・ガジャ』とは『象の洞窟』と言う意味です。しかし、バリ島に象がいた事実はなく、何故そう呼ばれているのか定かではないそうで、洞窟内に象の顔をした彫刻ガネーシャ像があるからと言う節が有力です。入口から真っ暗な通路を、恐る恐る手探りで進んで行くと、やがて左手に小さな裸電球に照らし出された、高さ80ｃｍほどのガネーシャ像が祀られている。それぞれのリンガ像は、ヒンドゥーの三大神、シヴァ、ヴィシュヌ、ブラフマを表しており、更に下部を小さな８体のリンガ像に囲まれています。また、洞内には、他にも様々な宗教的な彫刻が残されており、全部で15ある横穴は、かつて僧が瞑想をしたり、或いは睡眠をとった場所だと言われてます。洞窟前の広場には、６人の女神ウィデャダリが彫られた沐浴場が、ほぼ完全な状態で残ってます。
