ヤングアーティストを育成するデンパサールの国立芸術大学のすぐ近くに建つアートセンターは、広大な敷地の中に美術館・オープンステージなどが立ち並ぶバリ芸術の殿堂です。
毎年6月頃から1ヶ月間、アートセンターで開催されるバリ・アート・フェスティバルが非常に有名で、国内外からアーティストが訪れます。期間中は毎日日替わりで様々なパフォーマンス・イベントが行われ、バリをあげての一大祭りになります。フェスティバルのない通常の時期でもガムランや合唱の練習が行われ、敷地内を歩くと音楽の調べが聞こえてきます。併設される美術館では、伝統絵画や木彫り、銀細工などバリならではの美術品を観賞できるので、ぜひ訪ねてみましょう。
